New jumping techniques require new ski jumps. Railways, stairs, room for the ski jumpers, escape stairs, restaurant and terrace are housed in a tubular sculpture. A futuristic sight – a gigantic light for the city at night and a shimmering silver tube during the day. The shell construction comes from the aircraft industry, the body stands on a pair of “Nervi” pillars. A low-cost entry, with the 2nd place recognized in this international competition. Zaha Hadid won the competition and built, Henke / Schreieck were third and Dominique Perrault fourth.
