In 2002, Wienenergie commissioned the extension of the master plan “Mehrwert Simmering” on its site east of the Gasometer. The residential complex Nussbaumallee was completed at the end of 2016. An elongated building used as a parking deck on the ground levels shields the property from the new main road B228. Set on it, three line-shaped building meander with 300 housing units. A courtyard with preserved trees, public functions with gastronomy, creates a high quality of living and an urban atmosphere. Green roof areas with communal facilities such as sauna and fitness rooms and common areas are available to all residents and ensure “social comfort”.
The identification of the residents is created by a distinctive, exciting spatial sequence, which is modelled after the city centre. As a result, this project consciously revisits the principles of historic Viennese residential construction. An interesting dialogue take place with one of these great facilities, Anton-Schrammel-Hof on the other side of the railroad.
