The historic access to the city centre led until 1934 frontally to an interesting building with the original Casa Bizantina in the middle of a tower-like building with the function of an urban landmark. Since the demolition, hardly anything has changed until today.
The occasion of the construction of underground car parks offered the opportunity to reorganize the traffic structure and the surface, to regain space for “The place of poets” – Trieste is a city of literature – and to build a new “Casa Bizantina”.
